High Street
Read More- High Street (prob pre WW1) - (BS0393) Note village store where 21st century Co-op is, later to become known as “Slaughters” and managed by Len Snugs. Note also small shop next door. This was Pengilley’s Dairy shop, and later still Stan Blissit’s barber’s shop. The small shop with the ‘bike outside was a butcher’s. College Farm dominates all, on the right of the picture. Many thanks to Keith Slaughter for the following "Slaughters Stores was owned by Gordon Slaughter, wife Gladys and children Douglas and Molly who lived next door. When Gordon took over the store from the drapers he took out the vine lowered the roof of the greenhouse and planted tomatoes among other vegetables."
