Cafes

- Riverside Cafe - 1950s - (BS0005) Built on the corner of Church Road and St Helen's Avenue (which at the time was the main London road) by Mr Frank Young in the 1930s. The family lived above the cafe. Note also the 1936 car. Later this was modified to become the Chicken in the Basket, run by Wg Cdr & Mrs Binks. Later still it became the Boaters Restaurant and Rivers Night Club, and finally closed in 1999.

- Interior of the KCB Cafe - (BS0089) See also BS0216 and BS0217 below. Demolished with the Garage when the RAF runway was extended in 1941.

- The Crown - Pre 1935 - (BS0192) Also used as a tearoom. Bert Passey is seen in a cap, next to one of his sisters. George Arlot wears the pullover. Mrs Arlot is in the doorway. Mr Wigmore – gardener for the Crown – is on the left of picture.

- KCB Roadhouse - (BS0216) Text on drawing gives details. KCB = "Keep the Countryside Beautiful". Very much a CPRE initiative between the wars. The KCB won an award - details unknown. See also BS0089 & BS0217

- KCB Roadhouse - (BS0217) Thatched with Norfolk reed. See also BS0089 & BS0216 Demolished early 40's to extend Airfield runway.
