- Lt Cdr Frank West MBE - (BS1199) Lt Cdr Frank West MBE was brought up at 51 Littleworth, Benson. His Ship, SS Britannia, was torpedoed in mid Atlantic on 11th March 1941. With other Naval officers he completed a long sea voyage, an account of which he wrote entitled 'Lifeboat number seven' - a copy of which is held in the Benson Archive, together with his narrative of his Benson childhood.
